National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has advertised one position in its Financial Control area. The job is GL Control Officer (OG-II), based in Karachi. The notice appeared in The News on October 11, 2026. The ad gives you only 10 working days to apply, so read the details now.
What a GL Control Officer Does
GL stands for general ledger, the bank’s master set of accounts. A GL Control Officer checks whether those accounts balance and validate correctly. The officer reports to the Unit Head of the GL Control Unit.

- Collect data on GL balancing and validation for review
- List all non-balancing and non-validation GL issues
- Compile the reasons behind non-balancing GLs
- Keep records of outstanding issues and follow up with stakeholders

Education: Graduation Plus a Professional Track
The ad asks for a graduation degree from an HEC-recognized institution. The institution can be local or international. Alongside the degree, you need one of these:
- ACCA qualified
- ICMA qualified
- CA part qualified
Read the wording closely. The ad says “qualified” for ACCA and ICMA, but only “part qualified” for CA. It doesn’t say that part-qualified ACCA or ICMA students can apply. If you hold a partial ACCA or ICMA result, confirm with the bank before you apply.
Experience: Articleship Counts
You need at least two years of experience in finance, accounts, or articleship. The bank prefers experience at a financial institution or an audit firm. Hands-on experience with GL accounts earns extra preference.
The ad lists articleship as qualifying experience. That helps CA students who trained at an audit firm.
