Karachi Port Trust Fire Driver Jobs 2026

Karachi Port Trust has advertised four Fire Driver posts in its September 2026 recruitment notice, published in daily The News on 17 September 2026 (PID K-894/26).

This is a port fire service role, not ordinary departmental driving. KPT runs its own fire-fighting setup across the port’s berths, oil piers and cargo areas, which is why the ad asks for a heavy-duty licence and a trade test rather than just a valid driving licence. The person hired drives fire tenders in a working port environment.

One detail worth registering before you read further: all four posts are contract, for two years, extendable. KPT has said this plainly at point (iv) of the notice. This is not a pensionable regular post, and applicants expecting a permanent government job should decide on that basis. If a permanent seat is what you are after, the Government Jobs section usually carries regular-basis vacancies alongside contract ones.

Post and eligibility

Fire Driver (KPT PS-3)

  • Qualification: Matric, subject to passing a trade test
  • Licence: Heavy duty driving licence required
  • Experience: 02 years in the relevant field
  • Age: 30 years — the ad states a general relaxation of 5 years is already clubbed into this figure
  • Vacancies: 04, all on merit quota
  • Basis: Contract, 2 years, extendable

Quota and relaxation

The four posts sit entirely under merit — there is no regional or provincial quota split on this one, which is unusual for a federal organisation and means candidates are not competing within a district or province bucket.

Separate from that, KPT will observe 10% for women, 5% for minorities and 2% for persons with disabilities. Disabled candidates have to attach a disability registration certificate issued by the Federal or a Provincial Government; an ordinary medical certificate will not serve. Age relaxation for other categories follows standard Government instructions, on top of the 5 years already included in the 30-year limit.

How the application actually has to go

The form is not attached to the newspaper ad. You download it from www.kpt.gov.pk, fill it in, and send it by post or courier only — point (xiii) says applications received any other way will not be entertained, so hand-delivery to the office is out.

Along with the form, the envelope has to carry a detailed CV, attested photocopies of qualification documents, post-qualification experience certificates, proof of date of birth, one passport-size photograph, a CNIC copy, and a Rs. 100 pay order (non-refundable) in favour of the Chief Accounts Officer. Pay order, specifically — not cash, not an easypaisa transfer. Write the name of the post on the outside of the envelope.

Address it to: Manager (Human Resource), Karachi Port Trust, KPT Head Office Building, Eduljee Dinshaw Road, Karachi-74000.

Serving government employees have to route the application through proper channel and bring an NOC to the test or interview.

Deadline

The ad sets the closing at 20 days from the date of publication rather than naming a date. Counting from 17 September 2026, that works out to roughly 7 October 2026. Because courier transit time counts against you and KPT will not entertain anything arriving late, treat the first days of October as the real cut-off and confirm the date against the printed ad in your own copy of the paper.

Before you seal the envelope

Point (vii) lists what makes an application “incomplete”: missing CNIC, unattested documents, no domicile, no experience certificate, no pay order, no NOC where applicable. Any one of those and the file is discarded without a hearing. Only shortlisted candidates get called, no TA/DA is paid for the test or interview, and canvassing disqualifies outright. KPT has also reserved the right to cancel the recruitment at any stage — standard language, but it is in writing here.

For queries: Manager (Human Resource), 021-99214337 or 021-99214530-40, extension 2388.

Similar port, utility and departmental vacancies across the province are collected under Sindh Jobs.

Details above are taken from the KPT advertisement published on 17 September 2026. Always verify the closing date and requirements against the original ad or www.kpt.gov.pk before applying.
