The H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry has announced two contract vacancies. The institute is part of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi. One seat is for a Biotechnologist / Microbiologist / Biochemist, and one is for a Lab Technician. However, there is no online form here. Instead, your documents must reach the Director within 15 days of the ad’s publication.
Two Posts, Two Different Entry Points
The ad pairs a degree-level science role with a diploma-level lab role. As a result, both graduates and Intermediate science holders have a chance. The packages are Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 50,000, and both say “flexible.” The ad also says selected candidates will receive pay relevant to their qualification and experience. Therefore, treat the figures as a guide, not a guaranteed offer.
Posts and Requirements
Biotechnologist / Microbiologist / Biochemist (1 post)
- Qualification: M.Sc or BS in Biotechnology, Microbiology or Biochemistry from an HEC-recognized university.
- Experience: relevant field experience is preferred.
- Preferred extra: an Auditor course in ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- Hands-on skills: experience operating PCR and RT-PCR is preferable.

Lab Technician (1 post)
- Qualification: Intermediate with Science, or a Diploma. The ad does not name the diploma.
- Experience: working experience as a laboratory attendant is preferred.
- Package: Rs. 50,000, flexible.

The Academic Rule to Check First
The ad asks for at least two 1st divisions in your academic career. It does not say which levels count, so confirm that with the office. Likewise, it names no minimum percentage. Candidates with a mixed record should therefore ask before they pay for attestation.
What the Project Tells You About the Work
The posts fall under a project to establish, upgrade and operate two units, CPQL and FPTRL, at the Department of Plant Protection. The ad does not spell out those acronyms, so don’t guess what they mean. It does give the location: Jinnah Avenue, Malir Halt, Karachi. In addition, a note says the place of work after training will be the Department of Plant Protection, Malir Halt. The ad does not describe that training.
The preferred skills hint at laboratory testing work. For example, PCR and RT-PCR are common methods for detecting genetic material in a sample. ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing laboratories. Still, the ad lists no duties, so ask the Director’s office what the daily work involves.
This is a project-based contract, not a regular civil service post. Meanwhile, you can compare similar non-government vacancies in our Private Jobs section.
Documents to Pack
The ad lists everything that must go in your envelope:
- Your curriculum vitae.
- Attested copies of educational documents and degrees from HEC-recognized universities.
- Certificates.
- Proof of relevant experience, plus professional experience letters (if any).
- One copy of your CNIC.
- Two recent photographs.
- A copy of the advertisement.
Because the package must reach the university, check each item twice. Moreover, keep a full copy for your own records.
Delivery Deadline and Address
Your file must reach the Director within 15 days of the publication date. The clipping shows no date. According to jobz.pk, the ad ran on 3 October 2026. On that basis, the cut-off falls on Sunday, 18 October 2026. However, confirm the publication date with the institute, since offices may be closed on a Sunday.
Delivery counts, not dispatch. First, use registered post or a tracked courier. Then keep the receipt. Finally, call the institute to confirm arrival.
Address your envelope to the Director, H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi, Karachi-75270. The ad adds that you can download it from www.iccs.edu. That web address appears as printed, so check the spelling before you type it.
What the Ad Does Not Mention
Several points remain open. For instance, the ad gives no contract length, age limit or nationality rule. It also lists no phone number, email address or selection method. Likewise, it does not explain the training mentioned in the note. Therefore, confirm these points with the institute before you apply.
